CQT traces its origins to a small but visionary scientific group led by Prof. Nikolay V. Vitanov, a distinguished physicist with over 30 years of experience in the dynamic field of quantum technologies. In its early years, the Quantum Information group at Sofia University focused on foundational research in quantum control and quantum information. Some of its key research led to improvements in techniques such as STIRAP, as well as the introduction of composite pulses as a universal quantum control technique. Even back then, Prof. Vitanov’s vision was to create a center that not only pushed the boundaries of quantum research but also fostered an environment of collaborative innovation.
CQT is continually evolving and expanding its horizons. Recently, we inaugurated a state-of-the-art office building designed to support our growing team and research activities. This new facility includes collaborative workspaces, and cutting-edge equipment, ensuring that our researchers have the resources they need to conduct world-class research.
Our team has also expanded, welcoming new members who bring novel expertise and perspectives to our projects. These additions have strengthened our capabilities in key areas such as quantum computing, quantum control, and quantum metrology. Our multidisciplinary approach allows us to tackle complex challenges and drive innovation across various domains of quantum science.
